Rice Crop Statistics of Sidoarjo Regency, 2024

The availability of timely and accurate agricultural data is the foundation for implementing targeted agricultural policies. Since 2018, Statistics Indonesia (BPS) has collaborated with the Agency for the Assessment and Application of Technology (BPPT) and the National Institute of Aeronautics and Space (LAPAN), which have now merged into the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), the Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/National Land Agency (Kementerian ATR/BPN), and the Geospatial Information Agency (BIG), to improve the methodology for calculating rice harvested area through the application of objective measurement, leveraging advances in information and communication technology and the availability of high-resolution satellite imagery. This collaboration is realized through an activity titled "Integrated Agricultural Statistics Data Collection for Food Crops with the Area Sample Frame (KSA) Method," better known as the KSA Survey. The KSA Survey for rice began its national implementation in 2018. Field observations for the KSA Survey are conducted on the last seven days of each month. Based on the results of the KSA Survey, in 2024, the harvested rice area in Sidoarjo Regency reached approximately 32,100 hectares, representing an increase of 1,070 hectares (3.45 percent) compared to 2023.Meanwhile, rice production in 2024 was 208,987 thousand tons of dry milled grain (GKG). Converted to rice, rice production in 2024 reached approximately 120,673 thousand tons, representing an increase of 7,582 thousand tons (6.70 percent) compared to rice production in 2023.
