To support agricultural development in Sidoarjo Regency, the BPS (Statistics Indonesia) of Sidoarjo, in collaboration with the Department of Food and Agriculture, conducted verification of the polygon maps for the paddy field expansion program initiated by the Ministry of Agriculture. This activity was carried out over three days, from January 14 to 16, 2025, aiming to ensure the accuracy of data used in forming the sampling frame for the permanent paddy field area.
The verification was led by Ms. Lukmi Amalia from BPS, who guided the team to validate several locations, including Gilang Village in Taman District and Sumokali Village in Candi District. Despite the scorching heat, the team worked tirelessly to validate on-site data, ensuring the accuracy of the polygon maps as a reference for this program.
In the field, Mr. Wage, a local farmer, warmly welcomed the team during their visit. He gladly provided the necessary information and fully supported the activity. “I support this program because accurate data will surely benefit us farmers,” he remarked.
Ms. Ratih from the Department of Food and Agriculture also actively accompanied the BPS team during the activity. She enthusiastically assisted in each verification step, ensuring the process ran smoothly and yielded reliable results.
This collaboration between BPS and the Department of Food and Agriculture is a tangible effort to guarantee that the data used is accurate and reliable. Valid data is the cornerstone for designing policies that support the agricultural sector, particularly to enhance productivity and the welfare of farmers in Sidoarjo Regency.
